Has Codecademy Found a Way To Make JavaScript Fun?

The task of learning the JavaScript programming language is daunting to many who are considering the challenge. That’s why when Codecademy created a website that claims to teach you about JavaScript using easy-to-understand, browser-based lessons, over 200,000 developers signed up.

The Codecademy, which is free to registered members (and yes, registration is also free), has already provided 2.1 million lessons to budding developers. The website only launched last week, and was created in a week and a half by founders Zach Sims and Ryan Bubinski.
 
The course is designed to provide users with the ability to practice hands-on coding, while learning the vocabulary of JavaScript. When a user completes a certain lesson, they get a social “badge” that can be displayed on Facebook, Twitter and Google+.
